ABOUT TBA

Welcome

The purpose of our association is to perpetuate the art and craft of basket weaving and to support, nurture, and encourage the knowledge of, and skill in, all facets of creating quality baskets, either traditional or contemporary.

The state of Tennessee offers a rich heritage of basket weaving and proudly displays exhibits in museums, schools, and libraries throughout our state.

We give back to our communities with our New Angel Basket program. Our members weave baskets following a general guideline that are then taken to either Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville or to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville. These baskets are donated by the NICU units to parents whose child has passed away. Some of our members and community neighbors also knit or crochet blankets and make pillows to complete our gift.

Membership dues are $20 per year. TBA members are entitled to quarterly newsletters, access to a membership directory, and register to attend the annual convention For more convention information, click here.

The Tennessee Basketry Association welcomes your membership and participation in our state organization.
